DSU Grid Scheme - FAQs

A phone call will usually confirm your eligibility or we may need to arrange a site visit.

DSU Payment is calculated by PowerHouse analysing your electricity consumption and your ability to reduce demand on the Grid.

DSU with Export is calculated by PowerHouse analysing your electricity consumption, your generator's capacity and the results of your network feasibility study (Maximum Export Capcity MEC).

There are numerous ways to achieve demand reduction:

1. By delaying a process for up to 2 hours.

2. By switching off plant or equipment for up to 2 hours e.g. a cold store or stock piling machine.

3. By switching on your standby generator.

* Please note that having a generator is not compulsory for participating in a DSU scheme

You will always have first call, if you are using your generator you simply declare it unavailable to PowerHouse.

Yes, on top of your availability payment PowerHouse will also reimburse your net fuel costs if called upon.

Initially we only require the generator capacity, other technical details can be confirmed by our engineers.
